Pope to LGBT Catholics: 'God is Father who does not disown any of his children'
“God’s style is closeness, mercy and tenderness” Pope Francis said answering three questions put to him by Jesuit Father James Martin who ministers to LGBT Catholics.
Outreach: What do you say to an LGBT Catholic who has experienced rejection from the Church?
Pope Francis: I would have them recognize it not as “the rejection of the church,” but instead of “people in the church.” The church is a mother and calls together all her children. Take for example the parable of those invited to the feast: “the just, the sinners, the rich and the poor, etc.” [Matthew 22:1-15; Luke 14:15-24]. A “selective” church, one of “pure blood,” is not Holy Mother Church, but rather a sect.
I'm sure that this 'outing' will annoy many 'good' keen catholics and catholic apologists and know certainly one who got a bit huffy with Pope Francis this morning after he heard about it.

I feel uncomfortable with your use of the term LGBT Catholics. Why not ask how the pope feels about Masturbating Catholics or Unmarried But In A Sexual Union Catholics, or I Support Abortion Catholics. The great thing about the Catholic Church as established by Our Lord Jesus is that nevertheless there is a Sacrament of Forgiveness. None of the protesting churches and beliefs you prescribe to, can validly do this.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad that I'm not a catholic as I'm guilty of three of those 'major sins' you pompously mention (not the LGBQT one but that's not a sin, surely*). It's amazing how arrogant and closed-minded you can be even when your 'Papa' has a more enlightened view.
